Dr. Conklin joined the Caldwell-West Caldwell School District in July 2021. He was a classroom teacher for several years, a member of the Child Student Team as the Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant for several years, served as a school and/or district administrator for over 20 years, and taught graduate level classes as an adjunct professor at William Paterson University for over 10 years. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University, two master’s degrees from New Jersey City University and a Doctorate of Education from Northcentral University.

Dr. Conklin has been married for over 23 years, has two “adult” children, and a rescue dog named Daizy. His wife is a high school art teacher. Both of Dr. Conklin's children attend Montclair State University, one as a graduate student, and the other as an undergraduate. Dr. Conklin plays golf in his free time and enjoys taking Daizy for walks.

Mrs. Jones holds an M.Ed. from Harvard and a B.A. in English and Psychology from Georgetown University.

For over twenty years, Mrs. Jones has served in various public education leadership roles in Newark, Chicago, Boston, New York City, and now Caldwell-West Caldwell. Prior to joining CWC in 2018, Mrs. Jones served as Deputy Executive Director in the Office of Teacher Development for the New York City Department of Education (NYCDOE), the largest school district in the country. In that role, Mrs. Jones worked alongside senior leaders to provide an aligned teacher support and evaluation system that was consistent with its policies and contained quality programs and resources to train and develop teachers, principals, district staff, and superintendents. 

Prior to this district-level role, Mrs. Jones served as the Principal of Girls Prep Lower East Side Middle School in New York City, where she led significant school-wide improvement in student achievement, growth, and organizational culture, ultimately moving the school from a ‘C’ to an ‘A’ within just two years. Before becoming Principal, Mrs. Jones served as the Chief of Staff in the Office of Assessment and as Lead Senior Instructional Coach of the Common Core Pilots for NYCDOE, where she led a team working across 100+ schools to inform strategy for citywide adoption of new standards. Prior to that, Mrs. Jones was a Director of Curriculum & Operations, Vice Principal, Department Chair, Grade Level Chair, and English Teacher.

Mrs. Jones is thrilled to continue partnering with CWC colleagues and families to best support students in reaching their fullest potential.

Brian joined the CWC district in July of 2021, having served in similar roles in two Hunterdon County, NJ school districts. As an education professional, he’s had the opportunity to work in various public school business offices, instruct high school business students, and coach school athletes.

Prior to education, Brian worked for over 25 years in the financial services industry in institutional fixed income trading and sales, and retail wealth management. Brian started his career at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York as a Bank Examiner, and later as a Trader on the “Open Market Operations” trading desk.

Brian holds a B.S. finance degree from Seton Hall University, and a M.B.A degree from Rutgers University. He is the proud father of 3 adult sons (Andrew, Chris and Thomas), and married to his wife Annu.

As a former resident of the Caldwell’s, Brian is thrilled to be serving the Caldwell -West Caldwell school district and community.

I am proud and honored to serve as the Director of Special Services for the Caldwell-West Caldwell School District.  It is a privilege to be part of a district that demonstrates strong commitment to supporting students and families.  In my 24 years of experience in public education, I have served as a paraprofessional, teacher, Learning Disabilities Teacher-Consultant, and administrator.  As a district leader, I am committed to promoting the success of all students, by contributing to a positive school culture and by supporting effective instructional programs, designed to provide equitable access to learning and address the unique academic, social, emotional, and physical needs of all students. 

My husband and I are proud to have attended Rutgers University.  We are passionate about inspiring our two children to learn and achieve.  We encourage their involvement in social activities and appreciate how important it is to provide them with opportunities to interact with peers, take risks, and grow.  Reading is one of our favorite family activities.

Alyna Jacobs, Director of Elementary Education

Alyna joined the CWC district as the Director of Elementary Education in August of 2019, and loves collaborating with the teachers and administrators as she supports curriculum and instruction across our elementary schools. Alyna leads ongoing curriculum development, elementary assessment and progress monitoring, teacher learning and professional development, supervises the instructional coaches and academic interventionists, and elementary programs including I&RS, ESL K-5, RTI, and GAP. Alyna works closely with district administrators and building principals to support our board approved district and school based goals.

Prior to joining CWC, Alyna was an elementary school principal and assistant principal, instructional coach, reading interventionist and National Board Certified classroom teacher. Alyna received a BA in Art History from Rutgers College, a MA in International Education from New York University, a MS in Elementary Education from Brooklyn College and attended NYC Leadership Academy for her post graduate work in educational leadership. Alyna is a mom to two children, is the wife of an artist, and during her free time, she enjoys hiking, traveling and reading.

Mr. Misbahuddin began his career as a math teacher in Edison High School, where he also coached basketball and advised the community service club. While at Edison, he led training on instructional technology involving iPads, Smartboards and Promethean boards. He then served as the 6-12 math supervisor for Leonia schools, and most recently spent six years as the STEM Supervisor at Columbia High School for the South Orange and Maplewood School District. His time at CHS included developing several new courses and pathways to college credit as well as creating a new district data reporting tool. Mr. Misbahuddin also works as an adjunct professor for Montclair State University and Saint Peter's University, which helps him stay connected to the classroom.

He received his BA from TCNJ (Math Secondary Education); an MA from Marygrove College (Teaching Math) and completed certification programs with Kean University (Supervisor) and NJEXCEL (Principal). Outside of school he enjoys spending time with friends and family, cooking and traveling. He is looking forward to working with the Caldwell-West Caldwell community, students and staff to support the success of all learners.

Mr. Micu holds an M.S. in Management of Information Technology from Southern New Hampshire University and a B.A. in Social Sciences from Tel Aviv University.

For over twenty years, Mr. Micu has worked as an IT professional, leading technology teams in corporations, non-profit organizations as well as Public and Independent education.
