Allan Engel Memorial Scholarship
Allan Engel was an English teacher here at JCHS for many years. This scholarship is award to a senior who has worked hard and done well at JCHS and is planning to pursue further education.

Amanda McDonald Heart of Gold Memorial Scholarship
The Amanda McDonald Heart of Gold Memorial Scholarship is awarded in memory of Amanda McDonald, a 2003 JCHS graduate who died in an accident while attending college. Amanda was a very caring and generous person who helped those in need. This scholarship is available to students whose educational direction will support their pursuit of a career that will help to give back to the community.

Classon Family Scholarship
Dr. Marion Classon had a distinguished career of 40 years as an educator in the public schools of New Jersey. She taught elementary and middle school in North Brunswick and South River, and then served as an Elementary Supervisor for 10 years in Piscataway. In 1965, she came to Caldwell - West Caldwell Public Schools, where she served as Principal of Washington Elementary School until her retirement in 1984. Upon her death in 2015, she left her entire estate for the purpose of setting up The Classon Family Scholarship Fund, to support the higher education costs of students who attended Washington Elementary School. Each year, the student in the JCHS graduating class who attended Washington School and who has the highest SAT score among the fellow Washington School graduates will receive a scholarship which will come as close as possible to covering full costs for all four years of college.

David Gould Memorial Scholarship
David Gould graduated from JCHS as the President of his 1961 class and became an Associate Professor, author, and an international authority on public administration. Sadly, he was one of the passengers on the Pan Am Flight 103 that crashed in Scotland. His memorial scholarship is awarded to a student who is a gifted student, talented leader, and an accomplished writer.

David May Memorial Scholarship
David May was a 1985 JCHS graduate and tragically died while away at college. This scholarship is given in his memory to a senior who has been active in the National Honor Society, has an interest in computers and music and plans to pursue a career in engineering, as David was.

Frank G. Thompson Foundation Scholarship Program
Frank Thompson, lifelong resident of Livingston, was a thoughtful, public spirited and forward-looking man who established this foundation to grant scholarships to young people where he lived and worked, who rank in the top fifth of the class and are planning to enter a four-year college or university in the fall.

George Berisso Memorial Scholarship
George Berisso was a Biology teacher at JCHS for 30 years (1966-1996). He also taught many of our students as a Troop #9 Boy Scout Leader. The scholarship is given in his memory to a student who has performed well academically and plans to pursue further education in the area of science.

Isabel Lynch/ Wells Fargo Scholarship for Teaching
This scholarship was created in memory of Isabel Lynch, who was not able to go to college, but taught the value of education and inspired her children and others to achieve. The scholarship provides financial assistance for college to a student interested in becoming a teacher.

Jamie Bliss Memorial Scholarship
Jamie was an extremely well liked student here at JCHS, very active in 3 sports, an excellent student, and wonderful friend to many students. This scholarship has been set up in his memory, to be given to other students of the same caliber and character as Jamie’s. There is an intense, complex selection process before a recipient is selected.

Robert Hopf Memorial Scholarship
Robert Hopf was a science teacher in the Caldwell Schools for 21 year (1972-1993). His wife Joan also taught for many years in the Caldwell school system. The original scholarship was set up by Robert for his first wife and later changed by his second wife to honor Robert. This scholarship is awarded to a student planning to major in math or science.
