Principal - Jim Devlin
    Jim Devlin came to Caldwell-West Caldwell in 2015 with a rich background in teaching and administration.  Mr. Devlin earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History Education and graduated from the University of Delaware, Magna Cum Laude, in 1992.  He attended Rutgers University where he earned a Master of Education – Supervision and Administration degree in 1999.  Mr. Devlin taught at Marlboro High School from 1992 to 2000, and then served as the Social Studies Supervisor at Chatham High School for five years before accepting an administrative position at Morris Knolls.  He administered as an assistant principal and social studies supervisor at MKHS in Denville, NJ, for ten years.  Mr. Devlin is married to his wife, Casey, and has two sons ages 16 and 13.  With any free time outside of chauffeuring his sons around town, Mr. Devlin loves to exercise, read, travel and cheer for the Pittsburgh Steelers, but his favorite activity is anything that includes spending time with his family and their golden doodle, Daisy.  Mr. Devlin is fiercely proud of the students and faculty of JCHS and looks forward to building upon the academic, athletic, artistic, and altruistic achievements of this outstanding high school.   

    Vice Principal - Jessica Valentine
    Although Miss Valentine is entering her seventh year as a member of the James Caldwell High School administrative team, this is her ninth year in the Caldwell-West Caldwell District and fifteenth year in the educational field. Before joining JCHS, she taught Special Education at Washington School. Miss Valentine is a long time member of Caldwell-West Caldwell community and an alum of James Caldwell High School. She received her Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree from The College of Saint Elizabeth. When she's not in school, Miss Valentine enjoys spending time with family and friends and her fabulous dog, Lucy. Miss Valentine is looking forward to a great year working with the JCHS staff, students and community.
    Vice Principal - John Bertollo
    Mr. Bertollo is very excited for his fourth year in the Caldwell-West Caldwell School District and looking forward to continue working with the dedicated members of the James Caldwell High School community.  Mr. Bertollo loves getting involved in all aspects of the JCHS community, including researching the history of James Caldwell High School, attending sporting events and supporting our Arts programs.  Before joining JCHS, he was the Assistant Principal at Oak Knoll School in Summit.  Prior to becoming an administrator, he taught at the elementary level in Hawthorne.  He received his Bachelor's Degree from William Paterson University and Master's Degree from Seton Hall University.  When he’s not in school, Mr. Bertollo enjoys spending time with his wife, Chrissy, his son, Jackson, his dog, Gia, and is very excited about the new addition joining his family in the spring.  Mr. Bertollo is looking forward to another successful school year at JCHS.  Go Chiefs!!
    Supervisor of Guidance - Lisa Blackman
    Ms. Blackman is honored to be the Supervisor of Guidance at JCHS.  Prior to being appointed to this position in 2015, she served for eight years as a Guidance Counselor at Cedar Grove High School, Cedar Grove, NJ, where, in addition to working with students, she created and managed the scheduling process, introduced and instituted Naviance to the school district, and supported testing.  Ms. Blackman also served as a Guidance Counselor at Memorial Middle School in Cedar Grove, Heights Elementary School in Oakland, and E.W. Thurston Middle School in Westwood, MA.  She is a member of the American School Counselor Association, New Jersey Counselor Association, National Association for College Admission Counseling and the New Jersey Association for College Admission Counseling.

    Athletic Director/Supervisor of Secondary Education - Dan Romano

    Mr. Dan Romano is excited to begin his first full year at James Caldwell High School.  Mr. Romano joined us in October of last year as our Athletic Director/Supervisor of Secondary Education.  A 1975 Caldwell graduate, Mr. Romano has lived in West Caldwell his entire life. Married for 36 years to Cindy (Michaels) Romano (c/o 1977), he also sent 4 children through the Caldwell-West Caldwell school system. A graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University with a degree in Electrical Engineering, Mr. Romano started his educational career in 1993 becoming a teacher of electricity in the Essex County Vocational school system.  In 1984 he was given the opportunity to coach football here at JCHS under the legendary coach Andy Durburow. Mr. Romano coached football for 33 years at JCHS. In 1986, baseball was added to his coaching resume as he coached at either Caldwell or Bloomfield Tech up until 2015. He served as the Director of Athletics at Bloomfield Tech for 13 years and most recently as their Assistant Principal. Coming back to JCHS is truly a dream come true. Mr. Romano is passionate about athletics, but even more passionate about helping our students become people of good character, which is realized so wonderfully by the positive experiences that are gained through athletics. 

    Mr. Chamberlain
    Supervisor of Music - Scott Chamberlain
    Mr. Chamberlain started teaching elementary instrumental music in 1985 . In 1992, he accepted a position in the Caldwell-West Caldwell Schools as a brass specialist and high school concert band director. While in Caldwell, Mr. Chamberlain has taught brass lessons in all the schools, conducted the James Caldwell High School Concert Bands, Brass Choir, and Pep-Band, and Grover Cleveland Middle School Sixth Grade Band. In 2000, he was appointed District Supervisor of Music and holds that position presently. Mr. Chamberlain recently was bestowed the honor of getting listed in the 2002 7th Edition, Volume I of Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers. In addition to his teaching positions, Mr. Chamberlain has stayed active as a freelance trombonist in the Metropolitan area. Throughout the years, he has shared the stage with jazz artists such as Jimmy Knepper, Urbie Green, Jon Faddis, Harold Lieberman, Robin Ubanks, John Swana, Rob McConnell, and Dave Brubeck. He and his wife, singer and songwriter Nancy Chamberlain, formed a duo called ‘Hip’ Bone Connection’ in 1997 where they have performed eclectic popular music enhanced with MIDI accompaniment in a variety of venues. You can hear Mr. Chamberlain on several tracks of Nancy Chamberlain’s latest CD, ‘Late Bloomer’. Mr. Chamberlain received his Bachelor of Music Degree, Magna Cum Laude, in Music Education at West Chester University in May 1985. Mr. Chamberlain also received his Master of Arts Degree in Administration and Supervision from Montclair State University in 1996.
