•  Welcome to the Virtual Backpack
Caldwell-West Caldwell continues to move in a paperless direction with its home-school communications, launching the Virtual Backpack in 2013 to replace its weekly dispatches of flyers, notices and other information of interest to parents and guardians.

Announcements, upcoming events, documents and forms that were previously sent home via weekly e-mails or in backpacks will now be included in the Virtual Backpack. (On occasion, some paper forms, such as picture order forms and other important information, will come home with your student or be sent to you directly via e-mail.)

Parents of middle and high school students can now find online many of the letters and required paperwork that have traditionally been mailed home. The Virtual Backpack page is organized by school and includes postings from the various schools, committees, organizations and community.
On Thursday of each week an email is sent which will contain a reminder to check the Virtual Backpack for updates. To receive this email and others sent by the school, please make sure that you have provided your e-mail address to your school by completing the School Communications Form that came home earlier this year. In addition, special alerts and important information will be sent by the SchoolMessenger Alert System.  For more information on SchoolMessenger visit the home page on the District website.
Virtual Backpack can be accessed by clicking on a specific school on the left of this page or by visiting any school’s web site and clicking on the Virtual Backpack link on the left navigation bar. Contents will be added on an ongoing basis.
School information and community information will be dispersed in the Virtual Backpack. Groups wishing to distribute information through our system can follow the guidelines. If you have questions regarding the Virtual Backpack please contact 973-228-6979 or e-mail info@cwcboe.org.
