• Getting to Know Ms. Brock :-)

I started out my teaching career as a math specialist at a middle school in Bergen County.  Math is one of my favorite subjects, so I truly enjoyed this teaching experience!  Since starting out as a math specialist, I have taught 5th grade in a middle school and have taught 3rd, 4th and 5th grade here at Washington Elementary, each for many years.  I am looking forward to teaching 4th grade again, as there are many exciting curriculum changes and fun fourth grade learning activities planned.  I can't wait to make this year at Washington School a productive, fun and memorable one for you! :-D

Some of my favorite things to do include traveling, running, working out, listening to music, playing tennis, and spending time with my family and friends!  I love going to concerts, sporting events, and meeting new people!

I am a thankful mommy of a 4 year old boy, who has stolen my heart, with his big, beautiful eyes, happy smile and infectious laugh.  He is very helpful and has a great sense of humor.  He is so smart already; surely he's the son of a teacher! ;-)  I am also a blessed mommy of an almost 2 year old boy, who has also stolen my heart, with his beautiful eyes, big, happy smile, and belly laugh.  He is also very helpful, chill and a snuggle bunny.  I can already tell that he will be smart just like his big brother, yet again, proving to be the son of a teacher! :-p  In addition to being a "Boy Mom," I am also a stepmom to a 16 year old girl, who has a kind heart, is super helpful and looks out for other's well-being.
I am also a proud aunt & Godmother to my 13 year old niece, who is both beautiful on inside and out, and who fills my days with happiness and smiles! :-D
I am also a proud aunt to a sweet and sassy 10 year old niece, who brings such joy and fun into my life! :-D

Several years ago, I had the opportunity to write for an educational publication that focused on math preparation for state testing.  The book, Ready, Set, Go! NJ ASK Grade 5 Mathematics, was published in 2012.  Seeing my book on display in Barnes and Noble and reading my own author blurb was extremely exciting and rewarding!  Creating the mathematics materials was such an amazing and fun learning experience!  I hope that I will get the opportunity to work as an author again, whether it be for an educational publication or writing a book for entertainment.

I have a gluten, wheat, barley and rye allergy, which means I need to be careful what ingredients are in the foods I eat.  I need to eat special Gluten-Free breads, pastas, desserts like cookies/brownies/pastries, pretzels, chocolate and foods you wouldn't even know gluten was in.
