    Welcome to Ms. Colleen's

     Speech and Language Program!

Please let me tell you a little bit about myself.  My name is Colleen Geier (rhymes with "fire") and I am the Speech-Language Pathologist at Harrison School.  I have been working in the field of speech and language for more than 25 years and I am currently entering my ninth year in the Caldwell-West Caldwell school district.  I hold a Bachelor's of Art degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders and a Master's of Art degree in Speech-Language Pathology, both from Montclair State University.  Over the years, I have worked in a variety of settings including a special needs pre-school, a rehabilitation hospital, a private special education school and the South Plainfield and Scotch Plains-Fanwood Public Schools.  I hold a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) and I am licensed to practice in the state of New Jersey.

As a Speech-Language Pathologist, my goal is to improve a student's ability to become a successful and effective communicator.  Children are referred to me by either their parents or teacher.  Following an evaluation, children who qualify for speech/language services may target some of these areas of communication:
    • Expressive Language
    • Receptive Language
    • Articulation
    • Phonological Awareness
    • Syntax/Grammar
    • Auditory Processing Skills
    • Pragmatic Language
    • Voice Disorders
    • Fluency

In addition to direct therapy, I often consult with teachers regarding a child's speech program and I am always available to parents for questions, feedback, concerns or suggestions.  I can be reached by phone at Harrison School or more reliably, anytime by e-mail.  I will return your call/e-mail as soon as possible.
