At GCMS, we are incorporating formal fitness testing into our yearly activities. The testing will take place at the start of each marking period. Our aim is that students will use fitness principles such as the F.I.T.T. principle and STAR goal setting techniques to prepare and improve their fitness levels throughout the year.
FitnessGram is a valid and appropriate means of fitness testing covering the aspects of Health-Related fitness: Cardiovascular Endurance, Muscular Strength, Muscular Endurance, and Flexibility. Students will be evaluated using standards that are age and gender specific. The criterion-referenced standards are based on how fit and active children need to be for good health.
After the testing is complete, each student will be provided with a Fitness Report Card documenting their results and giving feedback for improvement.
Tests to be conducted:
Sit & Reach
Flex Arm Hang
**New in 2013- we have purchased equipment to identify Body Composition too! (optional) **
Remember, being active and participating in a wide variety of activities will help ensure that you remain in good health for a lifetime!
