    Here you will find the Google Classroom code and a brief overview of the summer assignment for the English class you will be taking next year (2020-2021).

     

    English 9 Classroom Code: o34h7ow

    The summer assignment for English 9 has two parts: read two books and write five journal entries. The first book is the "One School One Book" selection that all students will be reading titled, I Will Always Write Back by Caitlin Alifirenka and Martin Ganda with Liz Welch. The second book must be selected from the approved summer reading list found in Google Classroom. Prompts for your journal entries can also be found in Google Classroom. Assignments will be posted in the Summer Assignment Classroom, but you must submit completed work to your English teacher in September.

     

    English 10 Classroom Code: mjp7r5v

    The summer assignment for English 10 has three parts: read two books, complete two book review forms, and write two journal entries.  The first book is the "One School One Book" selection that all students will be reading titled, I Will Always Write Back by Caitlin Alifirenka and Martin Ganda with Liz Welch. The second book will be selected from the approved summer reading list found in Google Classroom. For each book that you read, you must complete the book review forms and respond to the journal prompts; both of these assignments can be found in Google Classroom. Assignments will be posted in the Summer Assignment Classroom, but you must submit completed work to your English teacher in September.

     

    English 11 Classroom Code: rmtewab

    The summer assignment for English 11 has two parts: preliminary research and summer reading and writing. For the preliminary research assignment, you will be doing background reading to get a feel for both sides of your research question. You will be trying to gain an understanding of the arguments that best support each side, and you will be considering which side you plan to support. The summer reading and writing portion of your assignment will have you reading two books and writing two journal entries.  The first book is the "One School One Book" selection titled I Will Always Write Back by Caitlin Alifirenka and Martin Ganda with Liz Welch. The second book must be selected from the approved summer reading list in Google Classroom. Prompts for the journal entries can also be found in Google Classroom. Assignments will be posted in the Summer Assignment Classroom, but you must submit completed work to your English teacher in September.

     

    English 12 Classroom Code: pvxxsc3

    The summer assignment for English 12 has three parts: summer reading and writing, begin your Senior 20 Passion Project and write a draft of your college essay. The summer reading and writing assignment requires you to read two books and write two journal entries. The first book is the "One School One Book" selection titled I Will Always Write Back by Caitlin Alifirenka and Martin Ganda with Liz Welch, while the second must be chosen from the approved summer reading list found in Google Classroom. Prompts for your journal entries can also be found on Google Classroom. To begin your Senior 20 Passion Project, you will watch 3 Ted Talks of your choosing and create a blog with two posts. Finally, you will compose a 750 word draft of your college application essay. Assignments will be posted in the Summer Assignment Classroom, but you must submit completed work to your English teacher in September.
