An Important Message from the Department:
March 13, 2020- Updated 4:30pm
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As per Dr. Heinegg’s email, the CWC schools will be closed March 16-20, 2020, in order to contain the spread of Novel Coronavirus-19. Starting Monday, March 16, CWC will enact remote learning plans for all students, including students on home instruction.
As Dr. Heinegg mentioned, social distancing is known to prevent the spread of Coronavirus, and we want to take every precaution to protect the safety and wellness of all community members. Local health officials have strongly advised that students should continue to practice social distancing even when schools are closed. As of Friday, March 13, 2020, no face-to-face instruction or related services can be provided throughout the period of remote instruction.
For our students with IEPs, remote instruction will be delivered either through online means or through packets, providing work that is aligned with your child’s individualized goals and objectives. If you received paper packets today, that means that it was determined that your child’s developmental needs and goals would be better met through tailored paper packets than online methods.
All related service providers currently providing IEP mandated related services, including Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Physical Therapy, will also be providing suggested activities and assignments that are aligned with your child’s individualized goals and objectives. If you have any questions, you can contact your child’s service provider directly through email.
If you have any questions about the remote instruction assignments or if you seek advice from any of your child’s teachers or providers, please do not hesitate to email them. Additionally, your child’s Case Manager can be reached by email.
If you currently have an IEP meeting or other CST meeting scheduled, we will be in touch with you to confirm if it will be held, either in person or remotely.
If you have a student that attends an out-of-district school, the current plan is to follow the out-of-district school schedule. If they are open, we will continue to provide transportation to their school. We are aware that this could change over the next 24-48 hours. We are expecting that the out-of-district schools will keep you posted.
Given that the current situation is unprecedented and that the health and safety of our entire community is most important, we are all doing our best to plan and execute remote instruction as carefully and as closely aligned as possible to your child’s individualized plan during a typical school day. Thank you for your patience and understanding through this process. We hope that you and your children remain in good health and stay safe. We are hoping to resume our usual routines as soon as possible.
