We have now reviewed all of the consonants in the alphabet. It is time
to move onto the vowels. We will begin with short A. We also learned 5
digraphs: TH, CH, SH, WH, and PH. Please practice making sentences with
your child. We will work on grouping words together to make a
sentence. Remember to use a capital letter at the beginning,
spaces between your words, and a period at the end. September: In First Grade, we begin with reviewing the letters and sounds. We also practice how to properly write the letters. It is so important for you to reinforce how to properly write the letters. This is the time when children need to guidance and positive reinforcement. Children will begin forming habits of how to write letters. We want to reinforce the proper technique to help the child become more successful. When writing at home, please remind your child to use his/her best handwriting all of the time! It is so important to learn good handwriting habits in First Grade.
