Dear Parents and Students,
We hope that you enjoy your summer vacation, and look forward to meeting you in September. The first day of school will be here before you know it. To help you prepare for it, we have made this list of materials needed for your fifth grade school year.
Many of these supplies will need to be replaced throughout the year. If you would like to send in more than the required amount we will hold them aside in a labeled baggie. For example, you may send in a box of pens and pencils, 6 red pens, and another highlighter. All of these items would be available for you, as you need them. Please have books covered the first week of school. Book Socks are a great alternative to brown paper bags and last all year! NO adhesive paper such as contact paper may be used. Label all supplies with your first and last name.
Please bring the following items in on the first day of school:
q 1 plastic expanding pocket folder w/ 7-10 pockets
q 2 black fine point “Sharpies”
q 1 box of #2 pencils (Mechanical pencils are acceptable.)
q 1 box of erasable pens (blue or black.)
q 4 red pens
q 1 set of eight colored markers
q 1 small box of colored pencils
q 1 durable, soft-plastic or canvas pouch to hold pencils, scissors etc.
q 2 packages of 3"x3" Post-it Notes
q 2 full-size boxes of tissues
q 1 purple & 1 orange Oxford Paper folders w/ horizontal pockets
q 3 decorative laminated folders w/ horizontal pockets
q 5 Marble Composition notebooks w/100-120 pages
q Seven pictures of yourself, family, pets, friends, or anything else that describes you. We will be making a collage during the first week of school. The pictures will be returned, however, you may have to cut them, so please do not send in a one of a kind. As an alternative, you may choose to make color copies of the pictures.
**Please have a dictionary, thesaurus, and a ruler available at home**
**Daily access to a newspaper is strongly recommended. **
Enjoy your summer. See you in September!
Sincerely,
The Fifth Grade Team J
