Miss Golembeski taught third grade for ten
years in the district before coming into the Learning Center
five years ago. Since becoming the Library-Media
Specialist, Miss Golembeski has involved the children in a
variety of programs, including The 5th Grade Book Battle, 4th
Grade Battle of the Books, Caldecott Books on Parade,
Kindergarten Mystery Readers, Project Partner, Musher Mania, and
What is a Hero?.
Miss Golembeski has received several grants
from the district's teacher association and implemented them
with the students at Lincoln School. In the Fall of 2005,
Miss Golembeski organized a used book sale at Lincoln School to
raise money for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. During the
2006-2007 school year, Miss Golembeski had students correspond
with her marine friend deployed in Iraq and hosted a special
assembly honoring the students' new friend.
In addition, Miss Golembeski travels
abroad with 7th and 8th graders each summer as a Delegation Leader for the People to
People Student Ambassador Program. The program, founded 50
years ago by
President Eisenhower, provides students
with the opportunity to learn firsthand about other cultures,
hoping one day these teens can be instrumental in achieving
world peace. Recent trips have included Germany,
Switzerland, Spain, France, the UK, and China. This summer
Miss Golembeski will travel to Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji.
