Dear Parents/Guardians,
I can hardly contain my excitement as the new school year draws near. September is fast approaching and with it comes the first day of Kindergarten. What a momentous day…the first in your child’s academic career and it must be special!
I am so excited to start the school year. Although I do not want the summer to end I cannot wait until September 3rd, our first day of school. I am looking forward to working with and getting to know both you and your child.
The morning Kinder-Kids will meet me at 8:45 am by the glass doors on the left hand side of the building as you face the school from Prospect. The afternoon Kinder-Kids will meet me at 12:15 pm at the same doors. The AM will be dismissed at 11:30 am and the PM at 3:00 pm via the front left hand side glass doors.
Listed below are a few necessary items that your child will need during the course of the school year. It would be very helpful if you could send these items to school with your child during the first three days of school. Please make sure everything is labeled with your child’s name and class, AM or PM.
The “Kindergarten Survival Kit” contains the following:
· A recent photograph of your child (that can be cut).
· A backpack labeled with your child’s name. Please no backpacks with wheels, they are very dangerous in the classroom and they do not fit in the cubbies. Please make sure the bag is big enough for folders and books and can be easily opened.
· Four colored pocket folders - AM students need yellow folders and PM students need blue folders. (labeled w/name and class)
· A smock for art (an old t-shirt is fine). Labeled clearly with name. No plastic smocks please.
· 1 pump soap
· 1 container of wet wipes
· 6 glue sticks (additional sticks will be greatly appreciated, as we will be using them often).
· A daily snack (something nutritious, please). No flip top canned items, as they are very sharp. Boxed drinks or plastic containers only. No thermoses, glass, sodas, or pouch drinks (for example Capri Sun). Please make sure that the snack is prepared to eat as time is precious, and we will not be able to cut or peel fruit, open, sort food, etc.
*Please remember our classroom is peanut/nut free. We cannot allow the children to eat anything containing peanut butter or any type of nuts in our classroom. If a snack containing nuts is sent to school with your child, it will be sent home. If you have any questions you may contact Ms. Rivera, our school nurse.
Please place all items and the attached “Kindergarten Questionnaire,” which is to be completed by the parent/guardian, in a bag labeled with your child’s name. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me at Jefferson School. I really appreciate your assistance and look forward to a terrific and exciting school year. See you on the 3rd!
Sincerely,
Miss Cindy Credico
