Dear JCHS Parents: I've been asked to resend the attached information, with special emphasis on the last paragraph. Thanks, Kevin Barnes

Please be advised of the following procedures and traffic flow around James Caldwell High School.       It is expected that students who have a driver’s license will exercise that privilege within the legal prescriptions as well as with courtesy and common sense.  If a student is not driving safely, his/her parking privileges will be revoked and his/her parents or guardians will be notified.  Students are expected to observe the directional arrows painted on the pavement.

There are a limited number of parking spaces available in the high school lot.  A student must register her/his car with the main office to secure a parking space.  If a space is available, a permit will be issued authorizing parking in the student parking area.  If/When the JCHS Parking Lot is full, overflow parking is available in the Westville Pool parking lot.  More detail regarding this arrangement will be made available when the student requests a parking permit.  Inappropriate driving on school grounds, failure to obey posted traffic signs, and parking in assigned spaces other than their own, will result in the revocation of parking privileges for the remainder of the school year.

“No Parking” signs are located on Evergreen and Woodmere Roads.  “No Parking- Fire Lane” signs surround the building and are clearly marked.

  1. Cars must be parked in registered spots only.
  2. Students must park in the area designated for students only.  (Parking spaces reserved for teachers/administrators/guests are located in the first three rows closest to the building.  All other spots are available for student parking.  Overflow parking may be found at the Westville Pool.)
  3. Parking in visitor spaces and/or handicapped spaces (without proper tags) is prohibited.  Parking in driving lanes is prohibited.
  4. Student parking permits must be displayed at all times.
  5. Parking on school property is a privilege that can be revoked for any of the above reasons, and as a result of any of the following behaviors:

a. A student demonstrates inappropriate driving practices that endanger others.

                        b. A student accesses his/her car during the school day.

                        c. A student leaves school grounds during the course of the school day.

In the early morning, the Westville entrance to JCHS is a two-way street.  The two-way becomes a one-way exit FROM JCHS when the crossing guard blocks the entrance with cones.  This usually happens around 7:40 AM to 7:45 AM.  If you approach the Westville entrance to school and the street is blocked, please use the Lane Avenue entrance to Woodmere to enter school property.  Woodmere is a two-way, two-lane street at the top (public street).  It becomes a one-way, SINGLE LANE street once it becomes school property.  If you have any questions, please call the office.

Sincerely,

Kevin Barnes

JCHS Principal
