Ceramics Curricula

Grades:  9,10,11,12

This course is designed for students who would like to experience and learn basic and advanced skills and processes involved in constructing objects made by handbuilding clay and throwing clay on the potter's wheel.  Ceramics Studio is a full year course that is designed for both beginning and advanced ceramics students.  The course is intended to teach students basic ceramic construction as well as to teach glazing techniques.  The half-year Introduction to Ceramics course is intended  for beginning students to learn the basics of ceramics building techniques; an abbreviated version of the full year Ceramics course concentrating on handbuilding techniques.

 

Anticipated techniques that we will go over throughout the year include:

Grading:

Although grading for each project will change a bit depending on what the students will be working on, each project is graded upon a general grading criteria.  Students should know that the effort put into their work can be more important than how their final projects turn out.  Essentially, the harder you work, and the more effort you put into it, the better you will do in my class.
