Class Expectations
From the first day of school until the last day, Mr. Saito's students are expected and challenged to live up to and exceed the following expectations:
1. Respect yourself and others.
2. Give 100% effort at all times.
3. Always strive to improve yourself.
4. Be an active part of the class & school community and team.
5. Be prepared at all times (You are responsible for you!).
These expectations will be introduced and reinforced on a daily basis through various class activities, discussions, and projects. My hope is that these expectations and values are embraced by each student, applied to their lives outside of school, and carried over in the future.

2. Keep hands, feet, and unkind words to yourself.

Parental Involvement
Parents, you are an integral and vital part of your child's intellectual, social, and psychological growth. Middle school is a tumultuous time when your child needs structure, boundaries, support, encouragement, and guidance...even if they seem resistant. For your child to succeed, a positive partnership between you and I (the teacher) is very important. Here are a few of my expectations about our parent-teacher bond:
1. Make homework and studying a priority.
2. Show interest and involvement in what's going on with your child both in school and extra-curricular activities.
3. Communicate your questions, concerns, and suggestions. (E-mail is best for me.)
4. A student's reaching his/her potential is the result of 3 people doing their job: Student, Parent, and Teacher.
Homework
1. Homework must be completed on time. Late work is expected the next day, and will be penalized.
2. Assignments are written at the side of the room, appear on the "Homework and Reminders" section of this webpage, and are recorded on the Homework Hotline daily.
3. Students are expected to write down assignments, take necessary materials home, complete all assignments, and bring in to school all assignments.
4. Students are expected and encouraged to ask for help from the teacher, a parent, or a friend, if necessary. Saying "I didn't get it" is not a viable excuse.
5. If a student is absent, the student must get the assignment and make up the assignment in a timely manner. Getting assignments ahead of time or the same day is highly recommended...so the student does not fall too far behind.
6. Remember: Homework is the student's responsibility!!!
Extra Help
1. The best times to seek extra help from Mr. Saito are before school at 8:00 (all year), or after school at 3:00 (except winter). Setting up an appointment is recommended to make sure your teacher is available.
2. Another option for extra help is to see a model classmate, who is well-organized, trustworthy, helpful, and who understands the lesson.
3. If a student earns a poor grade (less than 80%) on a test, project, and certain assignments: The student must get the test/project/assignment signed by a parent. After seeking extra help from Mr. Saito, the student will have the opportunity to re-take or re-do the assignment for an upgrade.
4. Asking questions and seeking help is a sign of courage and strength, not weakness!!!
