As both a visual art
teacher and an artist, I believe there is more to art than just
"talent." All students have ability. They will
have the opportunity to express themselves through meeting general
objectives, class participation and behavior, as well as respectful use
of materials in the room. Students are graded on fulfillment of
these requirements. We will be covering the elements and
principles of art (color, form, shape, balance, etc.), art from
different countries and cultures, as well as art from our contemporaries
to old masters. I have so many great ideas and look forward to
sharing them! |

Help from home
All art teachers are
scavengers!!!! Our art room is well supplied but can always use
the following:
Empty egg cartons,
coffee cans, margarine tubs and yogurt containers (WITH lids),
newspapers, paper towel tubes, remnants of fabric, wallpaper scraps,
decent size containers of any kind, and/or anything you think can be
used or turned into something else! (Another way to recycle!) |

ART...as a Means of
Understanding Others-and Ourselves
As children investigate
the historical context and purpose of art objects from various cultures
and eras, they gain insight into the lives, beliefs and expressive modes
of others in today's global village. They also become increasingly
able to reflect upon, understand, describe, and respect the origins of
their own culture and environment. |

Are there any fellow
artists out there that would like to share their knowledge of an art
process or profession? We LOVE guest speakers!!!! Feel free
to email me with any suggestions or to volunteer! |
