Recess
Weather permitting the children go outside to recess at the end of each day. Kindly dress your child accordingly, especially in the colder weather. For safety please teach your child to tie his or her shoes as soon as possible.
Birthdays
We are happy to celebrate birthdays in our class. In accordance with district policy we will not be serving food for birthdays. Please consider sending in a treat such as stickers, erasers, or a simple craft. Or you may want to donate a new book to our school library or a puzzle, book or game to our classroom. Please contact me by email before sending in any treat to arrange the best day and time for your child’s celebration.
Field Trips
Our class will be going to Wightman’s Farm in October to enhance our study of the life cycle of pumpkins.
We will visit Grover Cleveland’s Birthplace when we study the presidency .
In March our literature studies will be enriched when see a play at the Community Theater in Morristown.
Our class mothers coordinate chaperones for the trips.
Artist of the Month
Each month we will learn about a great artist. The study makes connections to our curriculum. Using the Getting to Know the World’s Great Artists book series by Mike Venezia we will discover the joy of art and try our hand at some art projects in the style of the masters.
Star of the Week
Each child will have an opportunity to be the Star of the Week. The Star of the Week is the messenger and line leader for the week. The Star of the Week gets to decorate a special section of the bulletin board with an information sheet about himself or herself that is provided by the teacher and post favorite personal photos. In addition, the Star of the Week can bring in a favorite book for the teacher to read to the class. Click on "Star of the Week " above for a link to the Star of the Week schedule and more details.
