Class Parents:
Class parents help the classroom teacher by planning holiday
parties/activities and by chaperoning class field trips (as needed).
Class parents also coordinate other parents in the class as needed and
requested by the classroom teacher. In the even of a weather-related
school closing or delayed opening, class parents contact other parents
by phone to provide them with information. Class parent guidelines and
responsibilities are provided and a tea is held in September to discuss
related information. Please refer to the H.S.A. committee list for class
parent contact information. Names of each set of class parents are listed
with the class list in this handbook.
Box Tops for Education/Campbells Soup Labels:
Each class participates in these contests by collecting label and box tops.
Counts are kept by an H.S.A. parent and the class who collects the most
(two times a year) is provided with a reward.Family Picnic/Hoe Down:
The Family Picnic/Hoe Down is a mid-June opportunity for Jefferson School
families to get together and have a fun-filled evening. Families are
treated to various types of food, games, horse and wagon rides, a petting
zoo, a D.J., and much more. Its a wonderful way to end the school year.Field Day:
Field Day, scheduled during the spring of each year, is an afternoon long
opportunity for students to participate in a variety of organized
athletic events, as individuals and as members of a team. Volunteers are
always needed. A flyer seeking help will be sent home prior to the event.Jefferson Journal:
The Jefferson Journal is the H.S.A. newsletter. It is published
throughout the school year and keeps the Jefferson School Community
informed of school activities and events. Bagels:
The H.S.A. sponsors bagel sales on early dismissal days throughout the year.
Please refer to the calendar for the dates. Information regarding price
will be sent home prior to the date.Fun at Lunch:
Beginning in January and continuing once a week for six weeks, parent
volunteers organize our Fun-at-Lunch program which is held during lunch
time. Over the course of these six weeks, many volunteers offer their
talents enabling our students to enjoy a variety of arts and crafts,
demonstrations, etc. This is a wonderful winter program that all of our
students look forward to.Other Activities and Committees:
Please refer to the H.S.A. committee list for contact information for
other committees and activities. As always, the school and H.S.A. are
always open to new and exciting ideas. If you have an idea, please feel
free to call a member of the H.S.A. or contact the principal, Mr. Mastrangelo.
