Welcome to the 2008- 2009 school year!
We would like to introduce ourselves, Margarita Gallina, LCSW and Julie Perlow, LCSW. We are Bridge Counselors working in all the elementary schools. Our role in the schools is to help your children with any social and emotional concerns. We work individually, in small groups and in the classroom to best assist the students. We hope to raise awareness about self-esteem, self-image, and conflict resolutions. Through this link, we will keep you informed of the programs we are leading in the elementary schools.
Helping Our Students Get Along During Recess
Over the course of the 2007-2008 school year, our elementary school students helped our school counselors to develop Game Rules for getting along better as they play independently during recess. This week we reviewed those rules during the students' lunch time with all grades, 1 through 5.
If your child comes home upset about something which transpired during their lunchtime, it might be helpful to review those rules with him or her. For your help in doing this, you may see the rules we developed by clicking on the interactive button below.
We encourage our students to brainstorm ideas on the most effective ways to resolve any difficulties that come up during these times, from how to seek help from a friend, classmate or adult to choosing the correct words and tone of voice to use.
