2.       Two sharpened pencils

3.       A homework assignment book or section in notebook designated for homework.

4.   Folder for keeping homework and handouts.

GRADES

The marking period grade is based on a combination of averages: 40% of the test grade average,   25% of the quiz grade average,   25% of the homework and class participation average, and 10% of the journal average.

Homework:

Homework is checked daily.  Each student starts with an average of 100 % at the start of the marking period.  Three points are deducted each time the student does not have his/her homework.

If absent please check the homework hotline.

Homework should have the following heading: name, date, chapter number, page number and the numbers of the problems assigned.  Ex.  Chap. 3, p.83, #13-25.

You must show the work on all homework. Copy the problem. If your homework shows only answers, half credit will be given.

When going over homework in class, be sure to correct any wrong answers. Ask questions if you do not understand.  (You are responsible for checking assignments with me or with another student if you are absent.)

Homework will not be assigned on alternating Fridays.

Journal:

Journals  are used for “Problem of the Day” and for answering   open-ended,  multi-step word problems.   In addition, every other Thursday a “Problem of the Week” will be assigned.  It will be due on the following Thursday.   Students may work together to solve these  assignments, however the explanation must be in your own words. Points will be deducted for copying.
