Weather Emergency Project
|
|
The Emergency Broadcasting System has interrupted your favorite tv show…there is a severe weather system approaching. AAAAHHHHHHH! What are you going to do to survive?
In groups of 2 or 3, you will create a brochure about one type of extreme weather and what it takes to survive it. Your topic and group will be selected randomly.
My group’s topic is: Hurricanes, Thunderstorms, Blizzards, Tornados, Floods
Research: (Use library time in class, as well as any extra time you need.)
ü Define the type of weather.
ü What causes this type of weather?
ü What are warning signs of this type of weather?
ü What dangers are associated with this type of weather?
ü How can people be prepared? (i.e. safety precautions & survival skills)
ü Could this happen where you live? If not, where in the world could it happen?
ü Other interesting facts!
The Brochure: (Use library time in class, as well as any extra time you need.)
Ø You will complete the brochure template on Microsoft Publisher.
(“Everyone” folder, then “Mr. Saito Mrs. Keenan” folder)
Ø Be sure to name your file and “Save As” in your student folder.
Ø Then, print a colored copy in your teacher’s homeroom.
Extra Credit: (You must complete this on your own time.)
· Create a video or skit that accompanies your brochure.
If you work carefully, you should be able to complete most of the work in school.
Any work that you do not finish in class is your responsibility to finish at home.
**If you are absent please be responsible for contributing to the group.**
Your grade will count as a test grade.

NoodleTools: This site will help you create your bibliography for a paper. Students will be prompted to log in to their school/library account when they click "Create new folder" on the login screen. Each student will create his/her own personal ID. Once the personal ID has been created, the student will simply log in on the main login screen using this selected personal ID and password (they will not be asked to log in to the school/library subscription again).
