CALDWELL-WEST CALDWELL PUBLIC SCHOOLS

TEACHING WITH TECHNOLOGY HIGHLIGHTS

Mr. Barry Bachenheimer, Director of Instructional Services

For the last several years, the Caldwell-West Caldwell Schools have been committed to providing students with learning opportunities that embed technology.  Current research in the field, from writers such as Thomas Friedman, Daniel Pink, Will Richardson, David Warlick, and others have demonstrated that in order to be effective learners in the 21st century, students need to develop new skills sets that include communication, collaboration, and critical thinking with learning activities that mirror real-world problems and challenges.  This web page will highlight Caldwell-West Caldwell staff members who are implementing these skills in creative and unique ways.  As we become aware of new learning activities, they will be posted here.

  • Lincoln School 2nd grade teachers Ruthann Ribaudo and Linda Mouravieff had students create "How To" stories.  While the assignment itself is not unique to 2nd grade, the second graders used the SMART Board and Photostory 3 programs to create animation and digital stories to illustrate their books.  Parents were treated to a "Red Carpet Premier" of the movie!
