School District Goals 2008-2009 School Year
1. Gather data and complete preparation for the New Jersey Quality Single Accountability Continuum process.
2. Complete the evaluation of the K-12 mathematics, K-12 physical education/health, and K-12 social studies
curriculum and complete the revision of the K-12 World Language curriculum.
3. Review and implement any New Jersey High School Redesign Initiative recommendations accepted by the
State Education Department.
4. Complete negotiations for a successor agreement with the Caldwell-West Caldwell Education Association in a
timely and amicable manner.
5. Plan for the next phase of facility improvements which were approved by the December, 2007 Bond
Referendum.
6. Develop an efficient and comprehensive budget for the 2009-2010 school year which reflects the continuous
improvement of the district’s educational programs and facilities and which complies with the New Jersey
Department of Education’s fiscal requirements.

On Monday June 11, 2007 the Citizens Advisory Group presented its recommendations to the Board of Education for long-range facilities improvements in the district.

The Full-Day Kindergarten Study Group was formed in February, 2007 by the Board of Education to study the interest and feasibility of having full-day kindergarten in Caldwell-West Caldwell. The committee is chaired by Dr. Daniel Gerardi. The committee consists of administrators and teachers for the district as well as over twenty members of the community. Community members were solicited to apply to be on the committee and then were chosen by random lottery. There were a total of four meetings of the group and the minutes are posted here. At the Board of Education meeting on October 17, 2007, the Board decided that Full-Day kindergarten and the resulting renovation to Harrison School would not be part of the referendum in December 2007.
